hd-dvd sucks

It is blue-ray all the way. Close to 70% of all high definition discs sold in quarter 1 ‘07 were blue-ray. This is WAY ahead of rival format HD-DVD. Blue-ray which was released months after HD-DVD, now clocks a sale of 1.2 million discs as against 937,500 HD-DVDs. With the patronage of major studios like Sony, Blue-ray surely has a distinct edge over HD-DVD. More proff that HD-DVD will bit the dust soon.

A recent article claims that Blu-ray will displace DVD’s in three years. That is a great call because it took DVD took almost a decade to surpass VCRs in US homes. I think this guy needs to re-evaluate how stupid he sounds. Most of us do not have HDTV or TV’s that would see the difference with blu-ray. How fast do you think it’ll be before everyone replaces their TV with HD quality ones? Three Years is way too short, especially with the economy due for a recession it’ll be longer than three years. DVD isn’t going anywhere!

The Blu-ray Disc Assocation (BDA) has declared itself the clear winner of the HD wars! This might have something to do with selling one million PS3’s, although maybe they have not read the general online consensus of the PS3 yet. No one wants one, and everyone who already has one, isn’t talking about it because of sheer embarrassment for having blown quite a bit of cash on a system with no good games. Maybe Sony should try reading some online forums as well and see how negative the Blu-ray talk is. I really hope both formats fail, but realistically there is no way for anyone to declare they are the winner at this point.

Digital Trends declares HD-DVD the clear winner of the next generation battle. Even with far fewer studios currently supporting them, HD-DVD still has considerably more releases (see here) and is much more affordable. DT originally predicted BluRay to win, partially because of what the PS3 would do for it but yes, it look like they were wrong. That was before both the price of the PS3, and the delays, were announced. Given the current circumstances of the PS3, it is a complete joke of a system that no one really wants.
